After completion of his formal medical training in Tehran, Dr. Gharavi continued his studies in the United States. His residency in General Surgery was completed at Mount Sinai Hospital, a Case Western Reserve University affiliated facility in Cleveland, Ohio. This was followed by a fellowship in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at University of Southern California Medical Center.
Dr. Gharavi's first staff appointment to the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery was at St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles (1978-1985). After joining the medical staff at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California, Dr. Gharavi founded the California Center for Cardiothoracic Surgery in November of 1987.
Board certified in general and thoracic surgery, he is presently Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery at Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center in Tarzana, California and at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California.
