Citizen Takes a Bite Out of Crime, But Misses $5K Reward by Calling 911 Before Crimeline

Mike Schillmoeller thought he was doing the right thing by calling 911 when he spotted a suspect in a bomb hoax.

But the 22-year-old lost a considerable amount of his civic spirit when he found out he isn't going to get an advertised $5,000 reward. Because he called 911 before he tipped Central Florida Crimeline about David Disharoon, who has now been charged in connection with 50 telephone bomb threats, he doesn't qualify for the reward since Crimeline didn't help authorities solve the case, reports Florida Today.

"Pretty much the next time if I find a wanted fugitive, I'm going to let them go," says Schillmoeller. "There's really no reason to help out. They want the public to help them out, but they don't want to return the favor."
